The 1980 Olympic Gold medal team is more commonly known as the Miracle on Ice or just the Miracle. The Story of this great underdog story was made famous to younger people by the Disney movie, Miracle but there is a great book out there too called The Boys of Winter. This book has a great description of the miracle game and the lives of the players that were on the team. I have read up to where the second period is about to end. During the first period the Soviet team scored right off the bat. Buzz Schneider the United State's team leading scorer scored about five minutes after the give away goal to even it all up. Buzz's goal is followed by a number of close calls by the Soviets, which would have been goals if it weren't for the amazing goal tending by Team USA's number 1 goalie Jim Craig. Many shots were made on Craig but only one of them went in towards the end of the first period. With only seconds left in the first period the lines switched and Mark Johnson with fresh legs skated as hard as he could to his offensive end got the puck and beat the buzzer for an awesome tying goal. At the end of the first period the game was tied at two. During the second period there was one goal scored and that was the Soviet team. Again the Soviets are beating Team USA but the US is still in the game and down 2-3.

sounds very exciting!!I hope the U.S. win!!The movie is very good and also very inspiring!!I like to go see the Springfield spirt games!Sometimes they get a litle rough and slam guys against the glass and it is fun to watch.I wouldn't want to be a hockey player I might lose all my teeth and that would be really bad!
