What a Game!!!!!

The 1980 USA Olympic hockey team pulled of the impossible by beating the best team in the world at that time. The US team was inexperienced, only having college kids on the team, and they had only been together for about six or seven months. On the other hand the Russians had a huge upper hand on the young American team. The Russians had a bunch of experience since they were all about 25 to 30 they also had much more time to play together because some of them had been together for ten years.
Team USA also was extremely outplayed by being out shot 38 to 16. The only thing that the US had on the Soviets was determination. It was a huge thing for the Americans to beat the Soviets but it was not big at all for the Soviets to beat the US. Also another thing that kept them in the game was all the skating there coach made them do prior to the Olympics. What really made this game amazing is that after that game the Soviets did not loose another official international game for five years and did not loose to the US for another 11 years.
