Yeah I've wondered the same thing. It was so weird in Drama this past semester I learned that historians don't even really know if William Shakespeare was a real person. They think he might have been another writer that, like a women, that just used the name. They also believe William Shakespeare might have helped write the bible because if you count so many words or something in a paticular chapter you can find his name!! Creepy, huh? Learning all of this really makes me want to know if William Shakespeare is real or not??
I read in The DaVinci Code how historians questions William Shakespeare and his very existence! It would be suprising if it was just a pen name, but many famous writers have done the same. For example, Samuel Clemens was known by most as Mark Twain. Benjamin Franklin even pretended to be a women, I think named Silence Doguid or something, in order for him to write in his brother's newpaper. I wonder if anyone will really find out for sure?!?
