Materialistic- a person who is markedly more concerned with material things than with spiritual, intellectual, or cultural values.
Materialistic is major part of American Life. Women and Young teens are the main col berates for this. A lot of people love the Designer brands and types. Whether from clothes to accessories, to electronics and mechanise. Americans love Materialistic things! Think back to if you live in 1936. There were necessary materialistic things, but there were nicer more expensive clothing. This time during the depression many of our middle class people wouldn't be able to afford it. Imagine life back to the time of the depression. You wouldn't afford nice things, or "materialistic" things. What would you do? What would some Americans do? Go to this link of a picture of clothing back in the depression. The close are all riped and some don't have shoes. You can tell how hot it is by the dog panting in the background. The house, also, looks a little torn up.

wow
I think back then they were so poor, they were more interested in just HAVING a shirt on their backs rather than how it looked.
I never really thought about that!Things from then to now have really changed alot!!I think if I could just get a pair of shoes in the deprssion to walk to school in I would have been the happiest person!I know I'm very concerned about materialistic things and if I went back in time I would be devestated!I really like how you used a definition to start out your post!
