poetry

Mugsy

My mom yells my name to tell me it is time
Dashing outside my blonde hair floating in the breeze
I see my best friend waiting on her hind legs beside my mom’s feet
Waiting in anticipation like a small child waiting for candy
It was my dog Mugsy ready for her bath
I grab the hose as my mom turns it on
I feel the pressure of the water coming through and it feels like a rushing waterfall
I place my thumb on the top of the spout to make it feel like it was raining
Before I know it I am soaking wet and my mom is laughing at me
Rubbing the shampoo on my hands I lather it on Mugsy’s fluffy black and white fur
She begins to shake the water off and I begin to wonder who is really getting a bath
When I am done I spray her down giggling the whole time
The warm son begins to dry us off like a blow dryer so there is no need for a towel
I bend down to pick her up and I feel her wet tongue on my cheek
It felt as soft as a wet cloth and in return I gave her a kiss back
I can smell the sweet shampoo in her hair and mine
I hold her up proud that I gave her a bath all by myself
I smile inside and out knowing I have such a great companion
Well more then that a true best friend forever
My dog mugsy

Your poem was sooo good! When I read it I got a good visual of what was happening even though I wasn't there. I love dogs!
