Strong!

I felt Iris’ warm fur, yellow and orange
Every time I stroked her a little came off
I could hear the slight purring so quiet but so loud
The rest of the world didn’t matter to me.

Every one stood around happy and yet so sad
The little cat I knew for long had to go
Sitting there so weak but looking strong as ever
Her kidney’s had failed and she didn’t have long.

I held her and hugged her as long as I could
As I felt the tears streak down my cheeks
I said my goodbyes and gave one last kiss
And I felt a jolt of energy go through me

I realized what we both shared
Now that I look back to that painful day
We both were scared to death
But inside we knew to stay Strong.
