The Friar

I really enjoyed the reading that our class did out loud to day. The beautiful rhyme scheme and poetic devices that he used really made me appreciate this style of old writing even more. I am getting a lot better about understanding and learning how to interpret the language with out the foot notes. When we listened to the music at the beginning of class today it really created a visual image of Romeo wallowing in his grief and the fight in Verona. Then I saw Romeo and Juliet when they first meet eyes. The music really sets the tone of the play. I wish that we could see the play and have the music there to go along with it. I thought it was cool how someone brought in a poem that was an example of a sonnet. I went on line and found a couple of examples of all of shakesphere's sonnets at this site. It was really cool to see many of his famous works. This guy in the picture reminded me of the friar.

Wow! Thanks for the link. I wish we could all have seen the play, too. It would be so nice to just see it on stage the way it was intended! Maybe we should do that. I agree that we have great readers!

The Friar is definately one of my favorite characters of the play. He is funny, wise, forgiving, and willing to hep two come together and to attempt to stop the two families' hate.

the friar is very interesting because he tells romeo what he thinks about them getting married, and then he marries them anyway.
