The Survey

Taking that survey today in class was very interesting. I formed an opinion on something that I had never really thought about before. I believe that books like Mockingbird should be allowed in class because they are educational. Books with a historical content can help our society change for the better. I think that we should study books like this in school because they can help us realize our mistakes from the past. For example in Mockingbird we see racism and unfair trials and prejudice jurors. By reading this book in class we are able to see the mistakes we made and be able to ensure that we do not repeat these steps again. If we read books on policy and current events we could learn more about what is going on around us and widen our horizons as to the views of other people. This picture that I have included reminds me of the courtesy we should use when sharing opinions. We should not shout out or try to force our opinions on one another.

I agree. Books like Mockingbird should definitely be allowed in school. Sure there are some touchy subjects in the book but I think it is good for us. It allows us to learn about history in a fun way.

When we received a survey yesterday as I was reading the questions I had never really thought about that before. I believe that some books need to be taught because they may be showing history that was in our world or something like that.

I believe books that discuss important issues such as race should always be allowed in classrooms. We dont want to have children growing up iggnorant to what happened in the past because we do not want the past to repeat itself!
