Capulet vs.Montague...

After the reading the beginning of Shakespeare's "The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet," I can already sense the tension between the two families : the Capulets and the Montagues. I think it was very smart of Bill to start off the play the way that he did to immediately show the audience how hateful the two families are towards each other by having the fight between Sampson and Gregory of the Capulets against Abram of the Montagues. Does anyone else feel the same way?

I totally agree! It showed the audience the immediate hatred between the two families. It gives us an idea of what will happen as the play continues.

When they were fighting in the beginning I immediatly pictured young kids having silly arguments. The way they argued was so funny. "Do you bite your thumb at us!" Then Sampson is making sure he won't get in trouble before speaking so he says "No but I bite my thumb." This method of arguing is so childish because they are provoking a fight that they don't want.

I totally agree. The servants are eveing fighting which is just funny because they aren't really even apart of the family.
