A Drink To Please

At first Scout was pretty convincing that Mr. Dolphus Raymond was an evil man. He was supposidly "drunk" all the time and he was also married to a black women and had mixed children. How was he so sucessful in the town of Maycomb while having only black friends and family? I liked how that Mr. Raymond ended up being a kind man with a cause. He only pretended to drink because the people would not except him if he did not have a reason to be around black people and let alone like them? I thought that was very brave of him and I liked him for that.

I also liked that he was kind to Scout and Dill. He let Dill have a sip of his Coke because Dill was upset about how Mr. Gilmer was treating Tom. I think that Scout finally kind of understoof him, but I don't think that she has learned yet that black people and white people shouldn't be treated with difference.

I think that Mr. Dolphus was a coward because he had to make an excuse for why he acted the way he did when really all he had to do was to be himself and take the parsecution that others put him through. That would make him look like a stronger person than hiding behind a fake liquor bottle.
