Nine young black men against the world

The nine teenage boys from "The Scottsboro Boys" Trial really never even had a chance to get out of it once they were accused of the gang rape of two young white women. It's all too familiar to hear about a black man being wrongfully accused of a crime he didn't commit, or getting lynched for whistling at a white woman. It angers me to look back at some of the quotes from this trial, which was only 75 years ago. It is sad to think some of the people who said these horrible things could still be alive today and not even regret what they did. These boys remind me of Tom Robinson and how he was also accused of a terrible crime that a black man in the 1930's would never even think about...let alone go through with. This is a link to the site, even though there is also one on Mrs. James blog. Scottsboro Boys It's great to think there really were people like Atticus who understood that every man was created equal in God's eyes and stood up for folks like Tom! Hooray!

I can totally agree about how we are all created equal in God's eyes. Wouldn't it be cool to write a book on one of these Civil Rights trials from God's point of view?

Yeah but i would spice it up a little and have God strike down the people who accused the boys of the crime they didn't commit. =)
