A Troubled Trial

I could not believe, but then I could, that Atticus and Tom Robinson had lost the case. To me it seemed so obvious that Mayella Ewell was lying. She would keep pausing and the way she answered some of her questions it seemed so obvious! I knew in my heart that the jury of Maycomb would end up choosing the winners of the case to be the Ewell's because they were white. The thing is white people can do just as wrong, even worse, than black people. Whites throughout the years have built up this horrible image and reputation that black people are just horrible and would do anything to get what they want including rape, killing, and so on. It makes me so sad that they were treated like that back then because they were and still are people, too. It isn't as pointed out when white people do that kind of thing. But it is just as bad right? Why should black people get accused more than a white person?

You know I still here such things of people calling people the n word and you know who are we to even say that? We are just as bad if we call them that even if it is just a joke. We have gotten past that and it is time we act like it. I think there should have been more people like Atticus, Mr. Dolpus Raymond, Dill, and Jem. They saw the light. They saw that it wasn't fair for people to treat others like that. I personally thought that the blacks were above the Ewell's because of how honest they were and how kind they were to everyone.

I knew that Tom wasn't going to win just because he was black. That doesn't mean however that it was right...

I know what you mean. Like I have said on other posts... we all have a child like faith and we will never give that up so when the world disappoints us it really gets us down because deep inside we still believe in fairy tale endings.

I think that it's saed that people were that ignorant and blind during those times. An infant could tell you that the Ewells' were lying out of their teeth, but Tom still didn't get the justice he deserved.

I think everyone has said the same thing you have about the trail it wasn't fair but it was real.I don't like the N word and people whose say it lose my respect because it is such a nasty word in my opinion.
