Where for art thou???

I wonder exactly how long ago the book "Romeo and Juliet" was written. How many of you have read a book that seemed like it was based off of this book? I have seen alot of movies and books that seem to branch off from here. I think that Romeo and Juliet is like one of the roles models for all other love stories. Have any of you ever read a book or watched a movie that reminded you of this. I think that it will be cool to watch a newer version of this drama because we will be able to see how the mannerisms of today are different from back then. I think that the story of Romeo an Juliet is good because it is not like a fairy tale and everyone lived happily ever after. This tale shows that endings are not controllable all of the time.

That is a good observation it is a love story yet it is not pretty in the end.The Titanic reminds me of Romeo and Juliet because they are so much in love and they end in a tragic departure. The poem the Highwayman also reminds me of Romeo and Juiliet because it is about a man and leaves his sweethear at the house.Red coats come and tie her up with a musket under her chest. She thinks she is not going to live and she shoots herself. At the last minute she hears her lover coming back.she hears the tlot, tlot of the horse's hooves. Then the Red coats shoot him down in the highway

I can't really think of a story that ends like "Romeo and Juliet," but it seems like today most of the movies and books are happily-ever-after endings. Very few are sad. I think there are few stories that show that not everyone lives happily ever after, and "Romeo and Juliet" truthfully shows that, and it's not always bad that that happens. It just shows the honest truth about life sometimes.
